UltraViolet
(UPS) Sources
and accessories
|
|
|
A long established speciality of SPECS, the UPS
sources and accessories again set the standard for performance
and ease of use. The range includes "standard" differentially
pumped helium discharge devices and a high density plasma discharge
source. |
The
UVS 10/35 UV Source
is a differentially pumped high performance ultraviolet
source for surface analysis experiments.
|
|
Its main features are:
- stable output of HeI and HeII radiation controlled by
adjusting the pressure in the discharge cell
- air-cooled
- easy operation
- differential pumping
- high photon flux for high intensity
- long working distance

The
UVS 300 High Density Plasma UV Source
is a newly developed VUV larnp based on the duoplasmatron
principle, i.e. magnetic confinement of the plasma. Under
the direction of Prof. U. Gerhardt of the University of
Frankfurt, this principle has led to a new UV lamp which
combines excellent performance and simple instrumental setup.
The UVS 300 is manufactured by SPECS GmbH under an exclusive
license of the University of Frankfurt.
|
|
Its main features are:
- Integrated intensity >200nA photocurrent for capillary
with 1mm diameter and 113mm length
- Long term stability due to absence of sputtering effects
- High spectral purity
- Only one stage of differential pumping required
- Integrated micro isolation valve
- Easy to start and operate

UPS
Gas Cell, UGC 10
This unique device enables the highest performance UPS
measurements on gases with smallest line width and minimal
gas loading on the instrument pumping. The cell is tuned
to work best with the SPECS UV-light Source UVS10/35 to
which it can be field retrofitted.
|
|
Its main features include:
- The special geometry of the cell with space charge compensation
electrodes which provides a virtually uni-potential ionization
volume.
- Driven with well defined UV-light and sample gas (e.g.
HeI or Ne or Ar 3p lines) the source is well suited to demonstrate
the ultimate energy resolution of electron energy analyzers.
- Dimensions can be adapted to customer requirements.
- Bakeable up to 250°C.
- Easy to operate
